Make one of the frittata preparations for a quick breakfast at home. In today’s article, I will give you some tips on how to make one and what to serve with frittata? Below, you will find some easy-to-prepare healthy, and delicious side dishes that go along with frittata. So, keep reading.

What Is Frittata?

Frittata is an Italian recipe that resembles an egg pie in appearance. It’s like a quiche, except without the crust.

The frittata is referred to as an “Italian omelet” by others. A frittata can be made with about the same items as an omelet but with dairy. The cream is essential because a frittata is a custard stuffed with veggies, spices, cheese, meat, or even spaghetti, then prepared in a roasting pan. The frittata can be baked in the oven or cooked on a gas stove. No matter which process you used, it’s often finished baking under the oven.

How To Make A Frittata

Ingredients

Here are super delicious ingredients to make the best frittata!

  • Eggs – A frittata isn’t complete without them! Make sure you have several big eggs on hand. Since various sizes of eggs measure differently, the results will vary.
  • Heavy cream – Here’s what brings the frittata its creamy consistency when baked.
  • Garlic, Salt, and Pepper can add flavors and spices to the dish.
  • Bacon – It adds a chewy texture and a savory smokiness to the dish.
  • You can also make a traditional frittata veggie mix of yellow onion, potatoes, and spinach. The potatoes add a wonderfully soft feel, and the spinach adds a lovely splash of color.
  • Cheddar, Gruyere, and Parmesan Cheese – this combination of cheeses gives the frittata a distinct flavor.

Directions

  • In a medium-size mixing bowl, stir the eggs with heavy cream and half of the salt.
  • Place chopped bacon in a deep frying pan and cook over medium-high heat until tender. Remove the bacon from the pan and allow it to cool.
  • Fry the onion and potatoes with salt and pepper in the same pan until the mixture is smooth and browned.
  • Combine the spinach and garlic to the onion mixture, then apply and blend in the fried bacon.
  • Cover with a mixture of cheddar, gruyere, and parmesan cheeses.
  • Wait until the sides are beginning to set, then pour the beaten eggs evenly over the vegetables and cheese.
  • In a 400 degrees F oven, bake the frittata for 15-20 minutes. Whenever the eggs are ready, and it’s baked all the way around.
  • Serve and have fun!

If ever you get the frittata-craving appetite, you can easily prepare a meal with this recipe.

What To Serve With Frittata

Swiss Chard With Garbanzo Beans

This Italian version of beans and veggies can easily be served as a main dish or a side dish. So eat it together with a slice of frittata and save the remaining for breakfast tomorrow.

Garlicky Red Potatoes

These garlicky, crunchy, soft vegetables go with just about everything, so they’re an easy option for a frittata.

Green Salad Avocado and Red Onion

The presence of caramelized avocado slices, fiery red onion, and tasty orange strips gives this green salad some more oomph.

Couscous Salad with Cucumber

Arugula and Fennel Salad

Flavor Combinations For Frittata Recipe

While you can enjoy the traditional potato, spinach, and onion recipe, trying something different is also fun. Here are several more delectable ingredient combinations to consider when thinking of what to serve with frittata.

  • Artichoke hearts, spinach, and feta cheese
  • Broccoli, green onion, and cheddar cheese
  • Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and goat cheese are some of the ingredients.
  • Caprese is a combination of tomato, pesto, and basil.
  • Carrot, onion, chili, and chives
  • Tomato, spinach, and roasted red pepper

Add this menu in your favorite meat, such as ham, chicken, or even shrimp, and it will surely be a hit to your guests.

Tips for Cooking Frittata

Here are a few tips for cooking a much healthier frittata along with the above side dish ideas.

  • Use a lot of heavy creams. A creamier texture is associated with higher fat and protein.
  • Mix thoroughly. Try to ensure the eggs, meat, and vegetables are equally distributed so that each bite contains a little bit of all of it.
  • Do have cheese on hand. I’m serious. It’s so much better with cheese. Have faith in me.
  • Don’t overcook the food. Pull the frittata from the oven when it is still slightly undercooked in the middle and set it aside to cool. This keeps the eggs from being dry and squidgy by preventing them from overcooking.
  • Cook with a cast-iron skillet. These can easily be transferred from the hot plate to the oven and continue to evenly distribute heat, ensuring that the frittata is cooked throughout. They’re also generally non-stick, so removing the frittata when it’s finished is a breeze!

Things To Know When Cooking Frittata

  • Cheese To Use
This meal needs gruyere, parmesan, and sharp cheddar cheese, which is a wonderful combination. The gruyere is mildly sweet, earthy, and smooth, while the parmesan adds zest, and the sharp cheddar tastes delicious in terms of flavor. Other cheeses will fit as well if that these aren’t your favorites. Try goat, pepper jack, blue cheese, white cheddar, feta, and everything else you can think of!
  • Preventing Overcooking Frittata
This recipe uses bacon grease to prevent the frittata from sticking together. A cast-iron skillet is also highly recommended. Since they’re non-stick, removing the frittata once it’s finished baking is much simpler.
  • Use Cream Instead Of Milk
The smoother texture your frittata would be, the higher the fat content from whatever milk you’re using. While milk will suffice, I suggest using heavy cream for a silkier consistency.

Conclusion

One of the world’s truly delicious foods is a well-baked frittata. It’s inexpensive, easy to prepare, and a great way to use up leftovers. Not to say it’s excellent for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hopefully, this article on what to serve with frittata helps you create a meal that your friends and family will never forget. Learn more about frittatas and other sides here.
