How Long Should A Thermador Range Last: A Guide To Thermador Range Series

When talking about kitchen tools and appliances, most people automatically think about ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, and dishwashers. But we often forget one of the most basic tools in every kitchen – the cooking range. This kitchen appliance is a stove with an oven and is usually powered by either gas or electricity. And since this is an all-in-one oven and stove, many prefer to have it rather than buy them separately.

Thermador is one of the most popular and well-trusted brands when it comes to kitchen appliances. One of their products, the Thermador range, is among the best in the market. Keep on reading to learn its best features and how long should a Thermador range last below.

Thermador Range

Thermador, a part of BSH Home Appliances Corporation and a fully owned subsidiary of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH is the kitchen appliances brand specializing in cooking equipment such as ovens, ranges, cooktops, refrigerators, and dishwashers. Founded in 1916, Thermador has since become an important trendsetter in cooking technologies and is now considered the second-largest appliance manufacturer in the world. This brand went big because of good quality home appliances. So, how long should a Thermador range last? Let’s continue to know more.

With its quality, craftsmanship, and exceptional design, Thermador has redefined kitchen appliances for more than 100 years now. The company was the first to invent a wall oven and cooktop and also the first to introduce stainless steel to homeless appliances. Then, in 1948, they introduced the first “Pro Range” for home use. Since then, the Thermador range has become a popular name and is recommended by known cooking professionals and experts.

How Long Should A Thermador Range Last?

Now that you know about Thermador, the next question would be, how long should a Thermador range last? According to consumer reviews of Thermador ranges and ovens, these appliances have an average lifespan of 15 years, depending on how you use and take care of them.

Thermador range has two major series: Pro-Harmony and Pro-Grand. The Pro-Harmony is a 24-inch depth range that perfectly fits standard cabinets, while Pro-Grand is the more powerful, with its 27-inch commercial depth.

1. Pro Harmony Series

  • All Gas – This gas oven is flush with standard cabinets and has bullnose that stands proudly for visual effects. It has Thermador Star Burners, two of which have an extra-low simmer feature and a convection oven. The ranges in this series come in 24-inch depth and have 30-inch width with four to five burners options (18K BTU burner), 36-inch ranges with four or six burners with grill or griddle options, 48-inch ranges with six or eight burners with grill or griddle options or four burners with grill and griddle combination. The ovens of these ranges are cleaned manually.
  • Dual Fuel – The range of this series has 24-inch depth. The electric oven is flush with standard cabinets, and the bullnose can stand proud for visual effects. The ranges have the famous Thermador Star Burners, two of which have extra low simmer option, convection, and self-clean oven. The ranges come in 30-inch width with four or five burner options, 36-inch ranges with six or four burners with grill or griddle options, 48-inch ranges with eight or six burners with grill or griddle options or four burners with grill and griddle combination.

2. Pro Grand Series

  • All Gas – In this series, the ranges have 27-inch commercial depth and an extra-large gas oven that fits a commercial baking sheet. They have the Thermador Star Burners, four of which have extra low simmer, convection, and self-clean oven. The ranges come in 36-inch width with four or six burners with grill or griddle options, 48-inch with six or eight burners with grill or griddle options, or four burners (22K BTU burner) with grill and griddle combination.
  • Dual Fuel – All features of the gas ranges are available for Pro Grand dual fuel. It has the steam and convection oven combination feature in some select models. It also has induction cooktop burners in some models without depriving users of the regular gas cooktop. The ranges have a warming drawer that comes in 48-inch and 60-inch models.

Things To Consider When Buying A New Range

  1. Size and Fuel Type – You must consider your kitchen space when buying a new stove. Check the width, the height, and the length of the furnace and see if it fits your kitchen. For Thermador ranges, the standard width is 30, 36, 48, or 60 inches. Another essential thing to consider is the fuel type. Gas ranges use propane or natural gas for the cooktop and the oven. On the other hand, dual fuel ranges use gas for the cooktop and 220V electric for the oven. Make sure that you have proper electrical voltage and power if you prefer to use the dual fuel range.
  2. Your Methods of Cooking – Thermador ranges have several combination options. Users can mix and match cooktop combinations with gas burners, griddles, grills, and induction elements. If you prefer to cook with pans, then having a fifth or sixth burner will be advantageous. If your pots and pans are on the large side, then you’d appreciate using the Pro Grand range as it has extra width that gives you more space. If you are into baking, you might consider having the dual fuel ranges since it has more power and control in the oven.
  3. Cleaning the Oven/Gas Range – Cooking is fun and exciting, but it can be messy too. This is why it is important to consider this aspect when buying new kitchen tools and appliances as you will spending a lot more time cleaning if you are not careful in choosing the right ones. For example, lector cooktops are easy (if not the easiest) to clean because of their smooth glass surface, while gas cooktops need extra time since you will need to clean the surface, grates, and burners.

Conclusion

For over a century now, Thermador has become a big part of many cooking specialists. It has been known not just for its quality but also for its luxury style and design. Many users say that their Thermador appliances last for around 15 years, so if you ask how long a Thermador range lasts, it greatly depends on how you use it. It is vital that you use it with care to make your stove last longer. Learn more about luxury kitchen appliances here!
